With only a few basic tools, you can make candy that looks professional, as if they came from specialty shop.

You can find  candy molds in practically any design.  You can make chocolate bunnies, chocolate hearts, chocolate eggs and even chocolate starfish.

Holidays and special occassions are the perfect time to think of giving a homemade chocolate gift basket.  

With chocolate candy moulds you can make treats for everyone at a fraction of the cost of buying them from a speciality store.  

Making chocolate candy is a lot of fun and it's amazing how much satisfaction you get when you see your work turn out so beautifully.


Basic Chocolate Candy Making Supplies


Most of the equipement that you will need will already be in your kitchen, however you may want to purchase the following.

Chocolate candy molds.  There are many varieties of chocolate shaping molds available ranging from plastic trays, silicon and metal.

An artist's paint brush.  A good quality brush will last longer than cheap brushes which tend to fall apart.

Plastic gloves.  These should be used when handling your finished chocolate to keep the natual shine.


Basic Ingredients

Chocolate for molding.  Compound chocolate is used and can be purchased from most supermarkets in blocks, chips and  buttons.  It is avaiable in dark, milk and white chocolate.

Coloring.  White chocolate can be colored with oil based colors.  You can purchase these from specialty shops. Normal food coloring is water based and if used will cause the chocolate to seize.

Flavorings.  The flavorings should be oil based and are very strong and should be used sparingly.
